Grimesdale Neighborhood Rezoning Request: On August 6, 2012 the Grimesdale Homes Association requested that the County rezone their neighborhood from a Residential One (R1) zoning district to a Residential Two (R2) zoning district. Staff also received a letter from the Hickory Hills Homeowners Association requesting the County to rezone that neighborhood from a R1 zoning district to a R2 zoning district. The purpose of the Henderson County Planning Department is to provide staff support and technical assistance to the Henderson County Board of Commissioners, Planning Board, Technical Review Committee, Transportation Advisory Committee, Historical Resources Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment, and Environmental Advisory Committee. Planning staff also works with and assists other County Departments, governmental agencies, public officials, and the public. The Planning Director reports directly to the County Manager. The Planning Department, under the direction of the Board of Comissioners and supervision of the County Manager's Office:
- Conducts studies and develops plans containing recommendations for the future development of the County;
- Prepares ordinances intented to protect the public health, safety and welfare;
- Administers regulations regarding the subdivision of land; and
- Assists the public with questions on land use matters.
